Ramadan Wonders- Health Wonders (15): Purifying Slaughtered animals

In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful

The instructions of the Prophet are Revelation that is not recited:

The Noble Prophet who was raised up in the desert, gave us an instruction. The scientific   explanation for that instruction  was not revealed in his era, nor was it revealed 100, 500, 1000 or 1400 years after his death. However, as science advanced, the reason for that instruction became clear.   The Prophet, peace be upon him, forbade us from cutting the head of the animal off upon slaughtering it.

(Do not cut the head of the animal off, but rather cut the carotid artery in the neck)

What is the wisdom behind this Prophetic instruction? Before answering this question, pay attention to this fact. Man's heart rate is 80 beats per minute by its own internal command.   The heart contains three electrical systems; if the first system stops working, the second one works, and if the second one stops working, the third one  takes over .  The main point is that the electrical system of the heart gives the order  to  the heart itself to beat only 80 beats per minute.

However, in some exceptional cases, such as running away from an enemy or climbing the stairs, man puts an  effort , so 80  beats per minute is not enough for the muscles to accomplish their function. Yet, the order to have heartbeat acceleration is not received from the heart itself since the normal heart rate is 80 beats per minute.

I would like to elaborate by giving you this example. If someone sees a snake while he is walking in a garden, the image of the snake is printed on the retina, and the latter sends this image to the brain in the    area responsible for the vision. In this area there is a file about snakes, containing the information man gathers through studies, meeings, stories heard about snakes.  The brain reads in this file that this is a snake and it is dangerous.

Then, it gives orders to the most critical gland that is considered the queen of hormone glands (the pituitary gland). The signal it receives tells it that there is a dangerous animal whose bite could be fatal, so what does the pituitary gland do in this case?

It sends a hormonal signal to the suprarenal gland, which is located above the kidney, asking it to face this danger. In fact, the suprarenal gland acts like the Ministry of Interior,

so the first thing it does is to send an exceptional order to the heart to raise its rate from 80 beats to 180 beats per minute. The reason is that a frightened person needs to move and moving requires blood. Thus, the heartbeat is accelerated to 160 or even to 180 beats per minute.

There is a connection between the accelerated heartbeat and the lungs; the lungs expand, so the terrified man breathes quickly. Also, in such a situation the person needs sugar, so the suprarenal gland gives an order to the liver to release extra sugar. Furthermore, the vessels which gives man's face the rosy color, stops working as normal as they receive an order to narrow their lumen. As a result, man turns pale.

I repeat the changes in order; the heartbeat is accelerated, the lungs are accelerated, the vessels narrow turning the scared person pale, the liver releases extra sugar and thrombosis hormone is released as well. These five orders are given by the suprarenal gland to certain organs to react.

Actually, these changes are accomplished in a few seconds . They prove that there is a Great Creator of Man, and that man is the foremost creature. Allah the Almighty has created man of the best stature to fulfill the mission he has been entrusted with in Alam al-Azal (the World of souls).

Regarding the example I have given, these various orders are coordinated by the suprarenal gland.

The inimitability of the Prophetic instruction concerning slaughtering the animal:

A friend of mine lives in an Arab country, and he works for a certain ministry. He was sent to China to buy some meat, but when he asked them to slaughter the animals according to the instruction of the Prophet, peace be upon him, they raised the price of the meat, saying, "The animal will lose a lot of blood."

So, when the animal is slaughtered according to the Islamic way, the color of the meat becomes pink, and it looks tempting. On the other hand, it turns blue, as I saw it in Europe, if it is not slaughtered in the Islamic way. Besides, it is harder than the pink meat.

The point is that when the animal is slaughtered according to the Prophetic instructions, all the blood comes out of its body, this is why the meat of the animal that is slaughtered according to the Islamic way looks tempting to everyone. In contrast, when the blood remains in the slaughtered animal, the meat turns blue, and it becomes hard. Not to mention, in blood all diseases find their home.

This is how the inimitability of slaughtering the animal instruction is manifested. Moreover, the relationship between all the Prophetic orders and prohibitions and their results are scientific, and not man-made. In other words, it is a cause and effect relationship.

This is the Method of Allah, Exalted and Sublime be He, which embraces all aspects of our life in this worldly life and in the Hereafter. Thus, we should know the method of Allah's Messenger as well. Keep in mind that the illiteracy of the Prophet, peace be upon him, is a medal of honor, because it made him acquire his education from the Divine Revelation only. Allah the Almighty says:

(Neither did you (O Muhammad PBUH) read any book before it (this Qur'an), nor did you write any book (whatsoever) with your right hand. In that case, indeed, the followers of falsehood might have doubted.)

[Al-Ankabut, 48]

Dear noble brothers, these Prophetic instructions accord with the most advanced scientific research, which proves the inimitability of this great religion and the authenticity of the Prophethood of the Prophet, peace be upon him.

Indeed, whoever understands that the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him, as an accurate interpretation of Allah's Book, and that it derives the specific issues from the general ones has understood all aspects of religion, and his life will be as it should be and as he wishes. Allah the Almighty says:

(Why should Allah punish you if you have thanked (Him) and have believed in Him. And Allah is Ever All-Appreciative (of good), All-Knowing.)
