Interpretation of the Quran- Surat Al-Imran (3)- Lesson (07)- Verse [15-18]

In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Oh believer brother, with lesson number seven from the Al-Omran chapter, and verse number fifteen, Almighty Allah said:

[Beautified for people is the love of that which they desire – of women and sons, heaped-up sums of gold and silver, fine branded horses, and cattle and tilled land. That is the enjoyment of worldly life, but Allah has with Him the best return [i.e., Paradise].

Almighty Allah said:

[Say, "Shall I inform you of [something] better than that]

1-Life equals nothing in comparison with the hereafter:

If a man possessed all aspects of the worldly life, including plentiful money, beautiful woman, a luxurious car and beautiful farm - if he put all that in one hand then he put the hereafter in the other hand, they could not be compared with each other as our prophet (PBUH) said:

(What life takes from the hereafter is like the quantity that the needle takes when it enters the sea then leaves it)

[Mentioned in Al-Ather]

Go to the Mediterranean and ride a boat, then take a needle and dip it into the sea and look at what happens. Is there any decrease in the sea water? How much does the impact of water that was on the needle equal in comparison with the sea? This is what life equals in comparison with the hereafter.

If we imagine that a man possessed the life entirely, and everything is perfect, then we compare this with the hereafter we find it equals nothing. Therefore:

"The good that has fire after it isn’t good, and the evil that has paradise after it isn’t evil" and "Every bliss without paradise is despicable, and every ordeal without the fire is a health."

[Say, "Shall I inform you of [something] better than that]

In this Hadith that all of you know, Sahel Ben Saad narrated that our prophet (PBUH) said:

(If life equals the wing of a mosquito by Allah, then he will give the disbeliever no water to drink from it)

[Al-Termizi& Ibn Majeh]

The wing of a mosquito which is the most contemptible creature for human kind, as when it stands on your hand you kill it soon, do you feel that you are a killer for doing that? Or that you committed a sin? No, in the best case you kill the mosquito without feeling of anything. What about, then, its wing?!

(If life equals the wing of a mosquito by Allah, then he will give the disbeliever no water to drink from it)

[Al-Termizi& Ibn Majeh]

Life ends with death:

The meaning is that it isn’t proper for God's generosity to give you an infinite gift that ends with death, so however long life is, it ends with death. You will die even if you possessed all the countries and the servants, you are the richest man on the earth and you have health. Death ended all that. It ended the poverty of the poor, the richness of the rich, the strength of the strong, the weakness of the weak, the health of the healthy, the disease of the sick, the grace of the handsome, and the ugliness of the ugly. As this gift ended with death, it can’t be considered a gift because Almighty Allah gives the worldly life to those whom he doesn’t love. He gave it to his enemies: didn’t Korah have the plentiful money?

[And we gave him of treasures whose keys would burden a band of strong men; thereupon his people said to him]

(Al-Qasas Sura: from Verse 76)

Didn’t he give Pharaoh the kingdom although he doesn’t love him? Hence Allah gives health, intelligence, money, and beauty to a lot of his creatures, but he gives tranquility to a few of his sincere believers...

3- The sensible person is the one who works for the afterlife:

It is better than the life. Who are the sensible ones? They are those who work for the afterlife. Who are the irrational ones? They are those who are satisfied with the worldly life.

[Are you satisfied with the life of this world rather than the Hereafter?]

(At-Tawbah Sura: from verse 38)

Did you admire these several years that all have problems? Every man has a problem in his life, sometimes a disease, an exhausting wife, a crippled son, and sometimes a spinster daughter which is a very big problem, and finally a small income. If all the matters were as you like, then in old age health troubles will come such as myopia, bent back, joint pain, and defects in the systems. So, life is full of problems as Almighty Allah wanted it like this…."Your God revealed life to press, disturb and refrain from my close people in order to like my meeting"

The nature of life is exhausting, and however clear it is, it is never straight to anyone, and this is the reality in front of you. If a man has a big income then he has exhausting children, and if he has righteous children then he has insufficient income. Also if he has a good income then his wife isn’t good; moreover if his wife is good then he has troubles in his work or in his health. It is as if this life isn't a straight way, it is the home of misery not the home of pleasure, and what is necessary is that Almighty Allah commands and advises us to be interested in the hereafter…

[Say, "Shall I inform you of [something] better than that]

I endeared to you the love of desired things -women and children, and stored up heaps of gold and silver, and horses of mark and cattle and crops.

[That is the enjoyment of worldly life,]

4-The enjoyment of life is decreasing and ceasing:

The word "provisions" means a transitory enjoyment, as when a man eats a precious food - after a few minutes the food and its impact ended. It has no future impact, and so all of life is provisions i.e. transitory and contingency enjoyment that doesn’t continue but it decreases. You admire everything you possessed initially, then after that you become used to it and you feel as if you don’t possess it. God's will was to make life's enjoyment decrease and that it could never increase.

Between enjoyment and happiness:

It is possible to distinguish between enjoyment and happiness as enjoyment is something sensuous that come from the outside such as the enjoyment of the money, food, wife, home, warmth, car and systems. All of these come from the outside and have an absolute sensuous impact and a psychological one; moreover, it is decreasing and may be followed by depression or hell for ever. This is the enjoyment. Happiness, on the other hand, initially comes from the internal. You need nothing, and you say: "What can my enemy do with me as my orchard is in my chest. If they exile me then my exile will be tourism, and if they imprison me then my jail is a retreat, and if they kill me then my killing is martyrdom." It comes from the inside. You don’t need money, for it is always with you. Your orchard is in your chest.

[Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured.(28)"]

(Al-Rad Sura)

This happiness is increasing and cannot be decreased. Then it is followed by paradise forever. There is a big difference between enjoyment and happiness, as enjoyment has a physical impact whereas happiness has a psychological impact, as our Almighty Allah adorned….

[The love of that, which they desire – of women and sons, heaped-up sums of gold and silver, fine branded horses, and cattle and tilled land.]

Also He said:

[That is the enjoyment of worldly life]

ِAlmighty Allah said in another verse:

[Say, the enjoyment of this world is little]

(An-Nisa Sura: from verse77)

[O you who have believed, what is [the matter] with you that, when you are told to go forth in the cause of Allah, you Adhere heavily to the earth]

You are attracted to it:

[Are you satisfied with the life of this world rather than the Hereafter? But what is the enjoyment of worldly life compared to the Hereafter except a [very] little (38)]

(At-Tawbah Sura)

So the life of this world is nothing but an illusory enjoyment, as life seduces, hurts and passes…

[Then is he whom we have promised a good promise which he will meet [obtain] like he for whom we provided enjoyment of worldly life]

(Al-Qasas Sura: from verse61)

Therefore the happiness of the great prophets was by their God whereas the happiness of the foolish was brought by food, drink, women, houses, and journeys…etc. This paradise isn't for all people, as Almighty Allah bestowed the worldly life to those whom he loves and does not love, whereas paradise is restricted only for the righteous…

[Say, "Shall I inform you of [something] better than that? For those who fear Allah will be gardens in the presence of their Lord beneath which rivers flow]

For those who fear God, there are Gardens with their Lord; beneath which streams flow

The word “fear God” means he fears to disobey and enrage Him, he applies the godly method and he submits to his orders…

[For those who fear Allah will be gardens in the presence]

It is not one garden but gardens which are expansive and various. There are also fair maidens with wide lovely eyes, and there will wait on the inhabitants youths who will not age. Moreover, there are gardens beneath which streams flow, there are streams of water which alter not, and streams of milk of which the taste changes not, as well as streams of wine, and streams of clarified honey.

[Delicious to the drinkers]

(Muhammad Sura: from verse15)

This is His gift. There is another thing “and increase” which is to look at the face of Al-mighty Allah. The believer becomes unconscious for fifty thousand years from the elation of this look. There is also something else “a greatest pleasure from Allah”- this paradise has all things that the man desires and his eyes like to look at, such as looking at the face of Almighty Allah and a pleasure from Him…

[Say, "Shall I inform you of [something] better than that? For those who fear Allah will be gardens in the presence of their Lord beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally, and purified spouses and approval from Allah. And Allah is seeing [i.e., aware] of [His] servants]

None can claim that his deeds will qualify him to enter the paradise, but
Almighty Allah is mindful of the deeds of every man, as the deed that qualifies the man for the paradise shouldn't be accepted unless it was right according to the Sunna and absolutely for the sake of God.

[Those who say, `Our Lord, we do believe; forgive us, therefore, our sins and save us from the punishment of the Fire.]

Those are the attributes of believers. He said:

[Those who say, `Our Lord, we do believe; forgive us, therefore, our sins and save us from the punishment of the Fire.]

Attributes of people of paradise:

1- They call their God: Those who say, “Our Lord”

The first thing is that they always invoke Allah, and invocation is worship. In the correct Hadith Al-Noumam Ben Bashir narrated that our prophet (PBUH) said:

((Invocation is worship. Then he reauthors: “And your Lord says, `Pray unto Me; I will answer your prayer. But those who are too proud to worship Me will surely enter Hell, despised))

[Al-Termizi & Ben Majeh]

And Almighty Allah said:

[Those who are constant in their prayer ]

(Al-Maarij Sura(23))

Our prophet (PBUH) always prayed to Allah: when he entered and went out of his home, when he sat to eat and when he finished, if he faced an enemy, and when he entered and exited the bathroom, and when he went to his work. So his invocation was constant, and he taught us how to invoke Allah in all our cases through his famous praises of God.

[Those who say, "Our Lord, indeed we have believed]

2- They believe in God only:

Oh God, we believe in You as only one, existing, perfect, Creator and Controller. We believe in Your attributes and virtuous characteristics, and we believe in all that You revealed to us.

[Forgive us]

3- They ask their God for forgiveness:

Forgive us, asking for forgiving which is a very accurate thing as Al-Mighty Allah commanded the prophet (PBUH) to ask forgiveness for his sins, but does the prophet do? Anass narrated that the prophet (PBUH) said:

((All humans are sin, but the best of them is the repentant))

[Al-Termizi-Ben Majeh-Ahmad]

In some of the prophet's invocations, Ben Al-Abass narrated that for those who avoid the major sins and immoralities, and only [commit] slight ones that our prophet (PBUH) said:

((Oh God if you forgive, you will do that so much as there is no slave who doesn't commit sins))

[Al-Termizi]

As every man has thoughts that disturb him which may stay for a short time, the concern of man is to err and the concern of Allah is to forgive him, provided that this mistake is not intended and glaring; rather, it should be the result of a mistake, forgetting or negligence. This mistake can be forgiven by invocation.

[And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. (10). He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing]
Showers (11). And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers (12)]

(Nuh Sura)

Our respectable brother, this is a good omen. As long as you are righteous, then you are under Allah's protection, preservation and support. But, if you stumbled and committed a sin, as long as you ask for forgiveness then you are in another privileged circumstance, or even in two such circumstances - the affluence of obedience and the affluence of forgiveness.

Abu Huraira narrated that he heard the prophet (PBUH) saying:

((By God, I ask Allah for forgiveness and I repent to Him in one day more than seven times))

[Al-Bukhari]

((I ask Allah forgiveness a hundred times in one day))

This doesn't mean that he commits hundred of sins: it is impossible. But the kind of the prophet's sin is beyond the rest of humankind. Someone said: the prophet has a vision in which he sees the greatness of Allah, and then he has another vision in which he sees that Allah is greater than he thinks so he becomes ashamed of his last vision. For example, you are a man and there is a rich man in front of you whom you expect has a million while he has one hundred million. Thus, your expectation is less than the reality, and you feel that you didn't give him his entitlement. So, Al-Mighty Allah said:

[And ask forgiveness for your sin]

(Ghafir Sura: from verse 55)

Our respectable prophet said:

((I ask Allah forgiveness a hundred times in one day))

As long as you continue to ask Allah for forgiveness then you are in affluence, and which one of your slaves doesn't commit sins…

(Al-Termizi-Ben Majeh-Ahmad).

However, he who claims that he is infallible and he isn't a prophet, then he has exceeded the limits and dissents from the tenet of the Sunna and the community. As the respectable prophet Joseph said:

[And if you do not avert from me their plan, I might incline toward them and [thus] be of the ignorant].

(Yusuf Sura)

In another Hadith Abu Huraira narrated that our prophet (PBUH) said:

(( By God if you don't become guilty then Allah will take you away and come with people that commit sins then ask Allah forgiveness, and He forgives them))

[Muslim-Al-Termizi-Ahmad]

Feeling guilty is evidence of an undamaged heart:

Beware, then beware, and then beware again to understand this speech as encouraging you to hasten to sin - the meaning of this speech couldn’t be like that, but it's meaning is that if you don’t feel your sins, then you are dead to Almighty Allah. A man made a mistake, doubted, lied, mocked, smiled in a ridiculing way without feeling anything. This means that he is dead; if he is a believer he will be hurt severely. Your feeling of being guilty is a sign of your heart's life, and your non-feeling is a sign of your heart's death.

'' If you don’t commit sins – this means that you don’t feel your sins, and you are dead not alive – He will take you away and came with another nation that committed sins and asked the forgiveness of Him and He will forgive them''

For example: one evening you talk about a person and you backbite him and he is a Muslim. You came home and can't sleep: “How I did that?” He is a Muslim, he made a mistake. What is the meaning of ill speech? It is to mention your brother by that which he hates, even if it was right. You feel pain, so the next day you bring him a present and ask his forgiveness. That means that your heart is alive; it is alive as long as you felt guilty, asked for forgiveness from Almighty Allah, and were upset by your sin.

Who is the believer? He is the person whose good deeds please him, and his sin hurt him severely. Those are the ones who are worthy of paradise, who look to Almighty Allah, and deserve the satisfaction of Almighty Allah, which is the greatest thing in paradise. They say:

[Those who say, "Our Lord, indeed we have believed, so forgive us our sins and protect us from the punishment of the Fire,"]

Whenever you have a higher rank to Almighty Allah, you will account yourself severely:

Just for clarification: a container has a surface, or a drill bottom. If the borehole diameter is presumably ten inches, and you put an oranges in it, it will descend, whereas if you put a watermelon in it, it will not. If the diameter is five inches, and you put nuts, they will descend, but the oranges will not. So, everyone has his level in righteousness. For the prophets, it seems like the bottom is deaf and closed, but the rest of us may be more lax in a word or look, so our level (of righteousness) will decrease. Whenever you raise your level of righteousness, you are closer to Almighty Allah, and whenever your rank increases, you blame yourself severely. What did our master Abu Baker Al Sedeek, do with the man that had accused his daughter of adultery (Mrs. Aisha) ? He prevented him from the aid, so Almighty Allah blamed him:

[And let not those of virtue among you and wealth swear not to give [aid] to their relatives and the needy and the emigrants for the cause of Allah, and let them pardon and overlook. Would you not like that Allah should forgive you? And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.]

(Al-Noor Sura: Verse 22)

Almighty Allah blamed him and Al-Sedeek cried and said: “Yes, I love to be forgiven by Allah.” Almighty Allah had described the believers and said:

[And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allah and does righteousness and says, "Indeed, I am of the Muslims.(33)34. And not equal are the good deed and the bad. Repel [evil] by that [deed] which is better; and thereupon, the one whom between you and him is enmity [will become] as though he was a devoted friend.]

(Fussilat Sura)

Focus: whenever your belief increases you blame yourself severely. It has even been said that the good deeds of the virtuous are the bad deeds of the close men.

What did Our Master Ibrahim do? He said to his son:

[O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded.]

(As-Saaffat Sura: from verse 102)

He had been ordered to slaughter his son; the boy stood in an unbelievable position...

[You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast."(102)]

Allah didn’t burden the believers to slaughter their children, so the case of righteousness is a very precise case - whenever you ascend and are exalted, it ascends and exalts.

[And protect us from the punishment of the Fire"]

4- And protect us from the punishment of the Fire"

Those who believed and ask forgiveness from Almighty Allah for their sins, and protection from the punishment of the Fire...

[The patient]

5- The patient:

Patience is their state in life; they are patient with Allah's destiny and fate, with lusts, and with obedience. This means obedience, lusts, and destiny….

[The patient, the true and the obedient]

6-7- The true and the humble:

Those who devoted themselves to Al-Mighty Allah… We are in Ramadan so there is fasting from food, drink, and women which is the public fasting, and there is fasting from disobedience and sins which is the believers' fasting. Also there is fasting except from Allah….

[Certainly will the believers have succeeded (1) They who are during their prayer humbly submissive (2) And they who turn away from ill speech (3)]

(Al-Mumenoon Sura)

So except Allah, those ……

[The patient, the true, and the obedient]

The truthful... there is a truth in words and deeds, so the words' truth is to say your words as you believe, but the deed's truth is to have your deeds as your words. When you say something and do another thing, this is a lie and hypocrisy. When you believe in a thing and say another thing this is a hypocrisy of belief, but the word's truth is to say what you believe and the act's truth is to do what you say. Those are the truthful, and their deeds came to prove their words …..

[The obedient, those who spend [in the way of Allah]

8- Those who spend in the way of Allah

They spent of everything Allah gave them like money, science, glory and experience …..

[And those who seek forgiveness before dawn.]

9- And those who seek forgiveness before dawn:

The scholars say that the latter part of the night is the time of response, and they concluded that from Almighty saying through our Master Joseph:

[He said: I shall ask forgiveness for you of my Lord.]

(Yusuf Sura: from verse 98)

That is, it is at the exact time: it is the time of forgiveness and acceptance, so it mentioned in the Correct Hadith that Abu Huraira and Abu Saeed said that the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

''Allah waits until the first third of the night. He comes down to the lowest heaven and says: is there is anyone who is asking forgiveness? Any repentant? Any beggar? Any prayer? Until dawn... ''

[Al-Bukhari&Muslim]

We have, at this time, which is the latter part of the night an accepted invocation. And, I advise all my brother: if you need something such as you are afraid of an enemy, have an incurable disease, any problem in home, a deviant women, and you have children that you are not as you like, pray the night prayer and ask Almighty Allah in your prostration to give you whatever you ask. This is what strengthens your belief in Allah.

[The patient, the true, the obedient, those who spend in the way of Allah], and those who seek forgiveness before dawn.]

Then Almighty Allah says:

[Allah witnesses that there is no deity except Him, and [so do] the angels and those of knowledge]

1- The reasons alone can’t create the results:

Almighty Allah is only the doer. How then does He swear to us that there is no deity except Him? The whole act is by His hand. Allah creates causes and results. Due to our lack of understanding we think that the causes alone create the results. No. The reasons accompany the results, but the causes alone can’t creates the results. The scholars say: “At it not by it.”

2- How does Allah swear that there is no deity except Him?

How does Allah swear that there is no deity except Him? A person came, and did all the reasons but failed. Another one come without doing the reasons and succeeded, and the perfect example for that is when a healthy man marries a healthy girl. They must have baby, the whole cause is available, but you find that they can't procreate, for Allah prevents the reasons. The cause is discarded - He prevented it. This is what He swears to us that there is no deity except Him. For they said: ''I knew Allah from the abolishment of the determination'', a man looked at all the reasons and not succeed and vice versa. So, what Almighty wants will be and what he doesn’t want will not be.

A plane crashed, and one of its passenger didn’t have on the seatbelt, he freed himself, and he found a crack beside his seat so he jumped on the ground, but the other passengers had on their seatbelts. Therefore, a person can fall down from forty thousand feet up without getting hurt - he falls down on Alps Mountains, a heavy forest covered by five meters of snow, the branches of trees acted as support, so he falls down on his feet.

And if the care noticed you with its eyelid
Sleep as all fears will be safe
And in another plane on its way from Jedah to Pakistan, one of the windows was broken. There was a Pakistani women who had two boys in her lap. They were sucked out of the window by the force of the air pressure – the pressure inside the plane, so they fall into the sea. Therefore, chances are one hundred in a million that they are dead. Five days later a letter came from the flight company that she must come to Dubai. She thought that she will take compensation, but she found herself in front of her kids. What happened? They had fallen in front of a fisherman who saved them, put them in a boat and took them to the nearest hospital. What is the meaning of: That there is no deity except Him? And you are in the highest degree of richness but you are bankrupt, and you are poor but you become rich; you are strong but you become weak, you are weak but you become strong. All that is the result of the cancellation of reasons or preventing them ……

[Allah witnesses]

Almighty Allah swears that there is no deity except Him by preventing the reasons or canceling them. The believer walks on a path where on both the right and the left there are deep valleys. The right valley is the valley of polytheism. There are some who take reasons and depend on them and forget Almighty Allah, and sometimes they worship them like foreign people. And there is another type of person who doesn't depend on reasons, so he disobeys Allah as the Eastern people, the whole East. By the name of Allah eat, but the apple is not clean and that’s why we wash it. The prophet (PBUH) said:

((The one who has eaten the mud, has he helped himself to be killed))

[Al-Baihaki in the greatest Sunna&Al-Tabarani in the great dictionary narrated from Sulman]

There is a naive dependence. Aufe Ben Malek narrated that the prophet (PBHU) told them that he had to judge between two men. So the one who had been judged said when he went: “Sufficient for us is Allah, and an excellent Guardian is He.” Then the prophet (PBHU) said:

((Allah admonishes inability, but be with the clever – look at the reasons – then if you fail say: Sufficient for us is Allah, and an excellent Guardian is He))

true believer deal the reasons and depends on Allah:

The true believer deals with the reasons and depends on Allah as if they are everything, as the prophet did in the emigration. He chose a polytheist expert, so experience overcame loyalty, and he instructed a person to bring him the news. He also got another person to erase the traces, and another to bring him the food. He walked near the sea-side against the expected direction, then he hid in Thawr Cave. He dealt with all reasons as if they were everything, then when they reached the cave he depended on Allah, as if they were nothing. This is the faith, to deal with the reasons as if they are everything and depend on Allah as if they are nothing, so Allah witnesses to us that……..

[How many a small company has overcome a large company]

(Al-Baqarah Sura: from verse 249)

There may be a very strong nation that considered all the reasons but it was defeated, and the true believers who are few and weak may overcome. This means that “Allah witnesses that there is no deity except Him, the whole matter is by My hand.” But the disbelievers worship the reasons, and the negligent believers cancel the reason. It is a naive dependence, but perfection is to deal with the reasons as if they are everything and rely on Allah as if they’re nothing.

For example: if we translate this speech to a reality, you have a vehicle, and there is a journey. You do a complete test for the oil, the fuel, the electricity, and the connection. Also, all the tools are good. Then you say: “Oh My God preserve me, you are The Preserver, Oh my God save me, you are The Saver.” So, consider the reasons and rely on Allah. There is a student who does his best and says: “Oh, my God, nothing is easy except that you make easy.” There is a trader who does his best and says: “Oh my God, let me have profits from these goods.” The farmer plants the seeds in the ground then relies on Allah.

[Allah witnesses that there is no deity except Him and [so do] the angels and those of knowledge – [that He is] maintaining [Creation] in justice]

3-The intent of the Scholars' call should be for revealing the content of the Word of Allah:

This is a sign that the intent of the scholars' call should be to show the content of words of Allah. However, if someone says to you: “Almighty Allah does whatever He wants, we are in His kingdom”, this is a good comment. But then, he shows you an unacceptable example. A carpenter and has two boards of woods: he makes one of them the palace's door and the other one for a privy. Is it your issue ? Allah didn’t say that, but He said:

[So whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it(7),And whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it(8)]

(Az-Zalzalah Sura)

Almighty Allah has absolute justice, and He said:

[And for all are degrees from what they have done]

( Al-Anam Sura: from verse 132)

Randomness and frivolity is not acceptable with regards to Allah's Deeds, so the precise faith is as Almighty Allah said:

[Allah witnesses that there is no deity except Him and [so do]The angels and those of knowledge – [that He is] maintaining[Creation] in justice]

Almighty Allah said:

[And a soul and Him Who perfected it (7) and inspired (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it.]

(Al-Shams Sura)

This doesn't mean that He creates the wickedness in the soul; this means that he programmed and molded it in a way that if it does evil, it knows that.

[There is no deity except Him, the Exalted in Might, the Wise]
