- Ramadan Lectures 1446 AH – The Most Beautiful Names of Allah
In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Dear noble brothers, today we are tackling another of Allah's Most Beautiful Names, and the Name for today is Al-Wakeel.
Al-Wakeel in Arabic refers to the trustee, the supervisor, and the guarantor who ensures the provision of sustenance to people.
The essence of Al-Wakeel is that He is the only party responsible for taking care of the assignee, and He is trusted with a matter, meaning that He guarantees its fulfillment. When I trust someone with something, it means I have assigned him to carry it out, relying on him and being satisfied with his handling of the matter, either because I am unable to do it, or because I fully trust his ability to do it.
Tawakkul means to put one's trust in another person, and it can be understood as relying on his reliability. However, it must be pointed out that Tawakkul resides in the heart, while the limbs act to serve that purpose.
(( Allah blames for falling short. ))
Unfortunately, some Muslims have adopted a helpless attitude, claiming that there is nothing more they can do, and that Allah will take care of the matters. This reflects despair, pessimism and social withdrawal. Pessimism is not one of the believer's characteristics, and Muslims should understand that the ball is in their court.
﴾ But if you return (to sins), We shall return (to Our Punishment). ﴿
Al-Wakeel can be interpreted as Al-Kafeel (guarantor), while the former embraces the later. Thus, Al-Wakeel is broader in meaning than Al-Kafeel, because every Wakeel is a Kafeel, but not every Kafeel is a Wakeel.
