Why is the Reward for Siyaam not Determined Beforehand?
When you lower your gaze, you protect yourself (from Allah's Punishment), and when you fulfil your duties towards others, you release yourself from liability. Whatever you are ordered to do (by Allah the Almighty) is for your own interest, "except fasting, for it is for Me, and I shall reward for it." What does this mean?
If it is 12.p.m, the weather is very hot, thirst is unbearable, and you are alone at home, no one on earth will know about you if you broke your Siyaam. There is cold water, juice and other things for you in the refrigerator. Yet, you will never think of breaking your Siyaam since this act of worship is the one of Tawhid and sincerity to Allah the Almighty. You will not drink any drop of water even if you are alone at home.
