Friday Sermon (1140): What have the opponents and enemies of the prophet-PBUH-said? The prophet embodies the good example in all life details

In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful

First Sermon :

Praises be to Allah. We praise Him, and seek His help and guidance. We seek refuge in Him from evils of our souls and our bad deeds. It's he who shall not get astray that is guided by Allah, whereas if Allah misguides any one, then he'll never have any source of guidance. I testify that there's no god but Allah - who has no partner attributed with His Oneness - and this testimony is a confession of His divinity and that Mohammed (PBUH) Allah's Messenger, is the master of mankind, as long as eyes can see or ears can hear. O Allah, do endow Your blessings and Peace upon him and his folks and companions; the trustees of his noble mission and the leaders of his brigades. O Allah do bestow upon them and us your satisfaction.

Each celebration that is not accompanied with righteousness is useless:

O respectable brother, we're in the month when the noble Prophet (PBUH) was born. The accurate and dangerous fact is that our praise for the prophet is exceedingly great. But unless we follow his path (i.e. righteousness), this praise will be totally useless. You may as well praise him (PBUH) all your life. But the point here is that if you didn't trace his steps in earning your living, in spending your money, in choosing your career, choosing your wife, in bringing up your children, and in all your relationships and affairs, you'll not get any benefit from celebrating his birthday anniversary. Thus, Allah, the Almighty has said:

" And Allah would not punish them while you ( Muhammed (PBUH)) are amongst them , nor will He punish them while they seek ( Allah's ) forgiveness"

[Al-Anfal:33]

And this form of negation (And Allah would not) in Arabic, is amongst the pest forms of negation. It means it's extremely impossible for any nation to be punished (by Allah) if it applies the noble Prophet's way of living. In other words, if they are facing torment, and their country is under occupation, their wealth is robbed, their men are killed, and sh3er apply every possible way of humiliating them, then there's a dangerous alarm that the noble Prophet's nation in this era has deviated from his curriculum. They only celebrate his birthday anniversary. The point here is that celebrating the noble Prophet's birthday adds nothing to us unless it is accompanied by a true application of the noble Prophet's Sunnah. Allah the Al-Mighty says:

"And all that We relate to you ( O Muhammed –PBUH) of the news of the Messengers in order to that We may make p and firm your heart thereby"

[Hud:120]

If the heart of the master of mankind and the beloved of Allah is full of faith, which is already there in his heart when he listens to other prophets' stories, it's a higher priority for us to have our hearts full of faith when we study his biography and conduct.

Unless we follow the Prophet's curriculum, we will never benefit from praising him:

O brother, Allah the All-Mighty says:

" Or is it that they did not recognize their Messenger ( Muhammed-PBUH) so they deny him?"

[Al-Muminun:69]

We are obliged to become acquainted with the noble Prophet (PBUH). Allah, the Al-Mighty says:

" Say ( O Muhammed-PBUH):

"I exhort you to one (thing only) that you stand up for Allah's sake in pairs and singly, and reflect the life history of the Prophet (PBUH): there is no madness in your companion ( Muhammed –PBUH)"

[ Saba:46]

To prove the fact that unless we follow the noble Prophet's detailed curriculum as the example for our lives, we will never benefit from praising him, is the following good example: suppose that an illiterate son spent his life praising his scholar father. Does this lad get any use from this praise? Never. And even if we get every blessing of the Prophet's steps, unless we follow the Prophet's detailed curriculum as the example of our lives, we will never benefit from this blessing. Thus, respectable brother, in this sermon I will not consider the followers’ sayings, or the Muslim scholars’ sayings, or the companions' followers. In other words, I will not mention the sayings of those who believe in the noble Prophet (PBUH) but I will mention those from the opponents of the noble prophet. What have they said about him?

The prophet (PBUH) enemies' sayings :

An-Nadr Bin Hareth 's saying, a personage of Quraish and among the great opponents of the noble prophet:

O brother, this man An-Nader was a master amongst his people. He was among the most obvious enemies and opponents of the noble Prophet (PBUH). Once, An-Nader gathered the men of Quraish and preached to them saying:

"O Quraish kin, by Allah you've been greatly tested by this trial, which you'd never faced before, yet you are unable to fend it. Mohammed was among your men. He was the most honest, the one with the greatest morals, and the most trustworthy. Then when he got older and white hair started to appear on his head and he declared his Mission (of Calling you to Monotheism), you said: ‘He's a magician’. I swear by Allah, he is not a magician. We've seen magicians along with their tricks. Then you said: ‘He’s a Priest’. Again, I swear by Allah, he is not a Priest. We've seen priests along with their preoccupations, and we heard their rhymes. Then you said: ‘He is a poet’. I swear by Allah, he is not a poet. We've seen poets and listened to all kinds of poetry. And you said: ‘He is mad’. I swear by Allah, he is not mad. We've seen madness, and what he says is not hallucination nor confusion. So do think deeply about your matter, as you've been greatly tested by this issue (of Mohammed's Mission)"

He was amongst the drastic opponents to the noble Prophet (PBUH), and still he denied the polytheists' claims about the Prophet of being a poet, a magician, or a priest.

Heraclius stance of the prophet (PBUH):

A great dialogue took place between Heraclius and some of the leaders of Quraish opposing the Prophet. When the former received a letter from the Prophet calling him to embrace Islam, Hercules asked his followers to bring him some people of Mohammed's kinship. Consequently, some Qurashi merchants were introduced to Heraclius to answer his questions and inquiries about the Prophet:

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas:
“Abu Sufyan bin Harb informed me that Heraclius had sent a messenger to him while he was accompanying a caravan from Quraish. They were merchants doing business in Sham (Syria, Palestine, Lebanon and Jordan), at the time when Allah's Apostle had a truce with Abu Sufyan and Quraish infidels. So Abu Sufyan and his companions went to Heraclius at Ilya (Jerusalem). Heraclius called them in the court and he had all the senior Roman dignitaries around him. He called for his translator who, translating Heraclius' question, said to them, "Who amongst you is closely related to that man who claims to be a Prophet? " Abu Sufyan replied, "I am the nearest relative to him (amongst the group)" Heraclius said, "Bring him (Abu Sufyan) close to me and make his companions stand behind him"Abu Sufyan added, ‘Heraclius told his translator to tell my companions that he wanted to pose some questions to me regarding that man (The Prophet) and that if I told a lie they (my companions) should contradict me"

Abu Sufyan added,

"By Allah! Had I not been afraid of my companions labeling me a liar, I would not have spoken the truth about the Prophet. The first question he asked me about him was:
'What is his family status amongst you?'
I replied, 'He belongs to a good (noble) family amongst us.'
Heraclius further asked, 'Has anybody amongst you ever claimed the same (i.e. to be a Prophet) before him?'
I replied, 'No.'
He said, 'Was anybody amongst his ancestors a king?'
I replied, 'No.'
Heraclius asked, 'Do the nobles or the poor follow him?'
I replied, 'It is the poor who follow him.'
He said, 'Are his followers increasing or decreasing (day by day)?'
I replied, 'They are increasing.'
He then asked, 'Does anybody amongst those who embrace his religion become displeased and renounce the religion afterwards?'
I replied, 'No.'
Heraclius said, 'Have you ever accused him of telling lies before his claim (to be a Prophet)?'
I replied, 'No. '
Heraclius said, 'Does he break his promises?'
I replied, 'No. We have a truce with him but we do not know what he will do in it.' I could not find an opportunity to say anything against him except that.
Heraclius asked, 'Have you ever had a war with him?'
I replied, 'Yes.'
Then he said, 'What was the outcome of the battles?'
I replied, 'Sometimes he was victorious and sometimes we.'
Heraclius said, 'What does he order you to do?'
I said, 'He tells us to worship Allah and Allah alone and not to worship anything along with Him, and to renounce all that our ancestors had said. He orders us to pray, to speak the truth, to be chaste and to keep good relations with our kin.'
Heraclius asked the translator to convey to me the following, “I asked you about his family and your reply was that he belonged to a very noble family. In fact all the Apostles come from noble families amongst their respective peoples. I questioned you about whether anybody else amongst you claimed such a thing, and your reply was in the negative. If the answer had been in the affirmative, I would have thought that this man was following the previous man's statement. Then I asked you whether anyone of his ancestors was a king. Your reply was in the negative, and if it had been in the affirmative, I would have thought that this man wanted to take back his ancestral kingdom.”
“I further asked whether he was ever accused of telling lies before he said what he said, and your reply was in the negative. So I wondered how a person who does not tell a lie about sh3er could ever tell a lie about Allah. I then asked you whether the rich people followed him or the poor. You replied that it was the poor who followed him. And in fact, all the Apostles have been followed by this very class of people. Then I asked you whether his followers were increasing or decreasing. You replied that they were increasing, and in fact this is the way of true faith, until it is complete in all respects. I further asked you whether there was anybody, who, after embracing his religion, became displeased and discarded his religion. Your reply was in the negative, and in fact this is (the sign of) true faith, that its delight enters the hearts and mixes with them completely. I asked you whether he had ever betrayed. You replied in the negative and likewise the Apostles never betray. Then I asked you what he ordered you to do. You replied that he ordered you to worship Allah and Allah alone and not to worship any thing along with Him and forbade you to worship idols and ordered you to pray, to speak the truth and to be chaste. If what you have said is true, he will very soon occupy this place underneath my feet and I knew (from the scriptures) that he was going to appear but I did not know that he would be from amongst you, and if I could reach him definitely, I would go immediately to meet him and if I were with him, I would certainly wash his feet.'

This was Heraclius’ conversation with them. Very accurate questions resulted in great realizations. In this context, believe me O respectable brother, if the noble companions had understood the religion the way we understand it today , i.e. only as folklore, manifestation, decorations, celebrations, conferences, lectures, and compositions, their detailed daily life would have been far from the real curriculum of Allah, which might have restricted Islam from expanding outside Mekkah.

This text, concerning Heraclius' conversation with Abi-Sufian is written in Bukhari, the most correct book ever after the noble Quran. It also appeared in the book that explained it, “Fath Al- Bari”.

Sayings about the noble Prophet by Western writers and researchers:

A Western biography author, who is not a Muslim, says :

" Muhammed was a real worshipper and an intelligent leader, who established a nation from shattered tribes. He was also a war expert who made plans and lead armies. Muhammed also was a kind father, and a husband who'd achieved amiability and mercy with his wives. He was a sincere friend, a generous relative, and a considerate and helpful neighbor. He was also a ruler who alleviated his subjects’ worries and he bestowed upon them his mercy, kindness and love to the extent that they would sacrifice their lives for his sake. Still, he is responsible for the best mission ever on Earth. He revealed to human being his full humanity, and has intertwined with his very entity. Moreover, people saw clearly the noble prophet's good attributes, and consistent applications of these morals, so they believed in all the principles he preached for . It was because they saw them applied within him, they were not just instructed theoretically to do them. This stirred these morals in their souls, and they aspired to follow his steps as much as they could. So, he proved being the greatest example of all humanity through its long history. Moreover, he's been a guide and a governor manifesting only good conduct before preaching it.”

The British researcher, Kariel, says:

"Verily it's a real shame to doubt the prophecy of Mohammed (PBUH) or his religion. And we are obliged to fend such incorrect views and nonsensical sayings. Though centuries have passed since he – the prophet (PBUH) - began his mission, hundreds of millions of Muslims followed of the lights of his Call.”

An American professor says:

"Mohammed (PBUH) has indeed realized the importance of unity, and the lofty rank of the united society. Thus, during his mission, he planted the seeds of union & amicability within the hearts of his companions. He kept looking after these seeds until it grew such a sweet fruit.

Miller, the renowned British writer says: “Some religions concentrate on the spiritual side of human lives, though they lack any regulation regarding political, legal, or social issues. But Mohammed (PBUH) was a prophet, and he was trustworthy, a political leader, and a legislator. Moreover, his legislation included verdicts as well as civil, political, and social laws"

The western researcher Reitin says:

"Since the rise of Mohammed's (PBUH) mission and when the light of Islam shined clearly, this Prophet proved that his mission is directed to the entire world, and that this sacred religion is suitable to every time, every element and every nationality. And all the human beings, whatever their civilization might be, can by no means do without this religion whose regulations streamline with human mind"

Mrs. Jan, the Swiss scientist says:

"If we deeply inspect the life style of Mohammed (PBUH) and his morals, we can deduce the core of the p relation that attracts millions of Muslims in this world to this great man, though his mission passed 14 centuries ago. These p relations called them and they still sacrifice their lives for him, his mission and the lofty Islamic concepts"

The Prophet (PBUH) in the eyes of western intellectuals:

The Russian philosopher Tolstoy admired Islam along with its regulations, the Islamic asceticism, and moralities. Moreover, he was stunned with the noble prophet's personality which was shown clearly in his literary works. Tolstoy said in an article entitled, ‘Who is Muhammed?’:

"Verily, Mohammed is a prophet and an establisher. He was amongst the greatest men who rendered a great service to the human community. He should feel glorious for guiding a whole nation to the right path. He led his nation to prefer tranquility, peace, and to live in asceticism. He ceased blood shedding, sacrificing human bodies, and paved the way to civilization and development, which is a great deed that could be achieved only by a powerful person. Such a man deserves every respect and reverence"

He also says:

"There's no doubt that Mohammed (PBUH) has rendered a great service to humanity by his mission. It's such pride, and right guidance. This mission has established the very pillars of reconciliation, settlement, and prosperity. It paved the road to civilization and the progress of generations. It's natural to say that what he –Mohammed (PBUH) - has done is a great deed which can't be under undertaken by any one but a decisive and resolute person. Such a man ,of course, deserves the greatest respect.

Another atheist intellectual says:

"In fact, Mohammed was sent with a Call which couldn't be denied. It's the extract of previous revelations, with a higher privilege. Thus, his Call is like a fixed legislation for the whole world. Moreover, Mohammed's sayings and Sharia resonate with the human taste and his recognition in this time"

O how wonderful what the Italian scientist, Waxton, said: “If any one asked me: ‘Who is Mohammed to whom your praise is directed?’ I would politely respond: This famous man is not only the Messenger of Allah but also, a distinct leader of a kind of Islamic Government which has been a shelter to the weak and to the Muslims. This government has been the protector of their social interests. Thus, Mohammed, the establisher of this government, is a political leader in the full sense"

Our noble Prophet (PBUH) is "the greatest personality via history" - a testimony presented by historians and writers:

The French author Coursie says:

"When Muhammed undertook his Islamic Call , and before and after his Mission, he was been a generous youth. His ideas surpassed the common ideas of his society. Muhammed, the lofty moral man, could rightly guide the racist Arab pagans who used to worship idols, to worship Allah only. Moreover, the united democratic government he established could exterminate every form of chaos, differences, or hostility that used to be common in the Arabian Peninsula. Hence, he established high morals and turned the wild Arabic society into a sophisticated civilized one"

The western historian James says in an article entitled

"The Super Character

" about the noble prophet (PBUH):

"Verily Muhammed (PBUH), a man of a heroic super character, has lead a revolution in the Arabian Peninsula and the whole east. As he smashed the idols with his own hands, he established an eternal religion that calls for the belief in Allah and Allah Alone"

The French philosopher, Cardivo says:

"Verily, Muhammed is the inspired faithful prophet. No one could ever struggle to his lofty position. Actually, the principle of equality and brotherhood that Muhammed established among the members of the Islamic community, was practiced by every member including the noble Prophet (PBUH)"

The British philosopher Thomas Carlyle allocated a chapter in his book about the noble prophet titled

"The hero in a Messenger's form

", in which he considered the prophet among the 7 greatest people in the history of human beings. Carlyle refuted the radicalists' claims by saying:

"The radicalists claim that Muhammad in his mission had no intention but to achieve fame, sovereignty and pride. No, by Allah, Mohammed's great heart was full of mercy, good deeds, kindness, righteousness, and wisdom. This man with rosy eyes and a great soul had many ideas far from the worldly greedy ones, and he did not have the intentions of sovereignty. And how could anyone think the contrary of Muhammad, when he had a tranquil soul and he couldn't but be a dedicated, sincere, earnest man"

The author of

"The Top One Hundred People

", who studied the history of mankind, then classified the greatest hundred man that ever trod the earth. This author chose the Prophet (PBUH) to be the #1 greatest man ever saying:

"He, Mohammed, was the greatest man ever according to, the powerful influence, type of influence, long lasting effect of influence, and his influence on wide expansion"

A side of the character of noble Prophet's (PBUH) as described by Muslims biography authors:

We'll end this sermon by mentioning an extract of a Muslim biography writer who described the noble prophet's dealing character by saying :

" The noble prophet –PBUH- was of great modesty, and abundant politeness. He used to initiate Salam ( i.e. greeting whenever sees people). Whenever he's talking to anyone, he's totally focusing on him , no matter the addressee is a youngster or an adult. If ever he shakes hand with any one, he's the last to pull his hand. When he gives alms, he puts the money in his hand to the needed hand. Whenever he is to sit, he sits wherever there's a space ( i.e. never allocate a certain place for himself). He 's never been seen stretching his legs. He has never scorned any deed to achieve his purpose or his companion's or neighbor's. he used to go the market and carry his purchases saying: “I'm the one who should to carry my own things.” He also used to response positively to the invitation of a free man, a slave, or a weak one. He would accept excuses. His attitude at home was distinct. He would patch his clothes, sew his slippers, serve himself, tie his camel, sweep his home, and he used to help his wives in the households. Moreover, he used to eat with his servant, and help the weak and the miserable one. He would walk gently, and lower his gaze. He was of continual somberness. He was always thoughtful. He never spoke unless there was a need for his speech. He was often silent, but when he would speak, he was the most fluent and eloquent. He was amiable, and he was neither ungrateful, nor offending. He used to cherish whatever blessing he had, no matter how tiny it was. He wouldn't dispraise any blessing. He wouldn't praise any taste (of food) nor dispraise it. He wouldn't get angry for any worldly sake. He wouldn't be angry for the sake of his soul, nor would he avenge for himself. He would avert and turn away when became angry, and he would lower his eyes when he was happy. He would reconcile between people and never separate them. He would bring people nearer not send them farther. He would act generously with each noble person of any tribe and give him their leadership. The noble Prophet (PBUH) would look after his companions, and check their conditions. He would appreciate the good deed and correct it, while he would rebuke the bad deed and weaken it. He wouldn't hold back in executing any obligation. If he sat with anyone, his companion would think that he's the most honorable one for him. If anyone asked him for anything ,the noble prophet would give it to him. If he, the prophet, didn't have the requested object , he would tell him some sweet words. He was always smiling, easy going, not a tough neither a rude one. He was neither bad tempered nor vulgar, neither a scoffer, nor a ridiculer. He would disregard what he didn’t like. He wouldn't dispraise anyone, nor would he rebuke anyone. He would laugh at what his companions laughed at, and would admire what they admired. He would be patient with the strangers' toughness, and wouldn't interrupt anyone's speech until he ended his speech.

Allah, the All-Mighty summarized the noble prophet's attributes in the next verse:

The speech about the noble Prophet is endless. It exceeds massive books. However, Allah the All-Mighty has summarized it in the following verse:

" And verily, you ( Muhammad-PBUH are on the an exalted (standard of) character"

[ Al-Qalam :4]

The Arabic poet praised the Prophet (PBUH) saying:

Not a single eye has ever been laid on any one who is more beautiful than you,
Never has any woman given birth to a more perfect person than you.
You've been created without any defect,
As if you've been created just the way you've chosen.
Bin Wahb (Amena, the noble prophet's mother) has bestowed upon humanity,
A white handed (generous person) who gained control over mankind.
She bore him glittering, just as skies would bear a shooting star.

O respectable brother, I swear by Allah that no matter how much we praise the noble Prophet (PBUH) we won't be able to repay him. The most important point to bear in mind here is that unless we traced his steps, we wouldn't get any use from praising him.

I end this sermon by this saying, I ask Allah for forgiveness for myself as well as for you. So repent to Allah in order to win His forgiveness. Those whom he forgives are indeed the winners.

The second Sermon:

Praises be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. I testify that there's no god but Allah, the Protector of the righteous, and that our master Muhammed (PBUH) is His Messenger and slave, the one attributed with the greatest morals ever. O Allah, bless and bestow peace upon Muhammed and his family and his noble companions.

Each father has an obligation towards his offspring to let them love the noble Prophet (PBUH): It's a great thing for each of you to keep an authentic book of Hadeeth and biography. And when you sit with your children at night, read and explain to them some pages of each book. As the noble prophet (PBUH) said:

"Raise your children upon three attributes, among which is to love your Prophet"

[ narrated Ali, reported Tabarani]

So, what every father is obliged to do for his child is not to tell him literally: “O son, you have to love the noble Prophet.” This is not what I meant. Each of us should implant the love of the noble Prophet by letting your child know the noble Prophet's attributes, his morals, mercy, humbleness,…etc. This is very important in order to follow his steps in life and be trained to acquire the noble attributes of the noble Prophet (PBUH). Our current problem is that people are completely far from our glorious history, and real heroes of Islam. People, instead, follow the example of modern artists who are totally remote from Islam - even these artists are indulged in sins. The greatest problem for our children is to take those people as their lofty examples. Thus, on this anniversary of the noble Prophet's (PBUH) birth, we must begin acquiring his attributes, and follow his being the exalted humanly example in every detail in life.

Dua'a :

Oh Allah, guide us to your path, among those whom you guided, and bestow on us good health, and allow us to be among those whom you gave good health. Protect us among those whom you protected, and bless us among those whom you blessed. Turn us away from any evil you've ever destined. You suppress only in truth, and You may never be suppressed. Whoever you protect shall not be disgraced, and whoever you showed enmity to, shall not be glorified. Oh, Allah, blessed be You, high above all. Praises to You for what you judged. We ask your forgiveness and repent to you. Oh Allah, guide us to good deeds, as there's no One but You who shall do so. Guide us to good morals, as there's no One but You who shall do so. Oh Allah, make right our religion, being the safe guide of our lives. Make right our present life, in which we live, and make right our other life to which we'll return. Grant us this life as a supply for good deeds, and make death an relief from any evil thing.

Oh, Allah, our Protector and Guardian, the lord of the worlds, grant us the satisfaction of your permissions (Halal) from your wrong-doings (Haram), your obedience from disobedience, your grace from any sh3er' grace. Oh Allah, by your Grace and Mercy, raise high your religion and the Word of Truth. And, grant victory to Islam, honor Muslims, and make them victorious at any place. O Lord of the worlds, show us your Might against Your enemies.
